Sclerotherapy

Treat Small, Superficial Veins

For those smaller more superficial veins, like spider veins, a widely accepted and conservative treatment is available called sclerotherapy. The sclerosant agent, called ‘vein detergent’, is mixed with air, creating foam. Under ultrasound monitoring, the form is injected with a tiny needle, after numbing, and then treated with a small laser. The foam causes inflammation in the vein, shrivels up, and becomes less visible.

Ultrasound for Diagnosis

Sclerotherapy is an effective treatment for superficial veins, but often the underlying issue lies deeper and will return if left untreated. It is necessary to have an ultrasound to diagnose the underlying vein issue and to assist with treatment.

Is Sclerotherapy Covered By Insurance?

Because spider veins correction is considered more cosmetic than medically necessary, insurance companies generally do not cover this procedure but our office does offer several different types of finance options to get your legs back to beautiful.
